How did you discover anime?
I think the first anime I watched was probably Pokémon was I was 11 or 12. After I got through my Pokémon phase, I watched likes of Akira and Ghost In The Shell.
How much anime do you actually watch? Ever made the time to read manga too?
I watch a few episodes or a movie per week. Sometimes I am at the mercy of my dodgy old PS2 and whether it wants to play DVDs or not.... I rarely watch anime online. I do read manga, which is just as well since I am part of the manga reviewing team here at AUKN!
Other than the obvious anime addiction, what else do you enjoy?
I love music. Bands I like include: Smog, Iron & Wine, Beulah, The Smiths, M Ward, Yo La Tengo, Sufjan Stevens, Pavement, Girls Aloud (really). I enjoy watching DVDs, playing videogames, browsing the internet, reading books. I also like football and snooker.
Tell us all about yourself?
I live in a sleepy village in Yorkshire. I'm a graduate and I'm currently unemployed.
What is it that you love about anime?
I guess it's mainly the inventive storylines. Animes such as Ghost In The Shell, Akira, the Studio Ghibli films, they have great storylines with many layers that you can peel back and draw your own conclusions from. Different people can take different messages from films such as Spirited Away, and I think that's great. Anime can entertain you and get you thinking. Plus, you know, the artwork is awesome.
