How did you discover anime?
Anime discovered me. I was watching Mysterious Cities of Gold, Ulysses 31 and Dogtanian long before I knew what anime was. It was only when I saw a late night showing of Akira on BBC2 that I realised that this was something worth exploring further. Late Licence on Channel 4 introduced me to Legend Of The Four Kings, Cyber City Oedo 808, Devilman and several others, and I partook a little of the Manga Video boom of the early-mid nineties.

And then it lapsed. I got bored, started watching something else, but it's when I started reviewing DVDs that I really got into anime. First a review disc of Dragonball and the Transformers Armada came my way. Meh, Then Sailor Moon. More meh. Then volumes 5 & 6 of Vampire Princess Miyu. Hello, this is interesting. Dual language. Subtitles. This could be good. Then Love Hina... And I'm hooked like a halibut. 500 discs later and here I am.
How much anime do you actually watch? Ever made the time to read manga too?
I have two or three series on the go at once, a couple of episodes of each at the most each night, about four nights a week. Maybe the odd movie. I rotate the old series so I watch them say once every 18 months or so, and the odd new disc as well. Of late I have been partaking of the free and legal online option, although some of Gonzo's offerings have been worth less than what I paid for them.

Manga I don't pay for, I borrow from the library. I like Ken Akamatsu's stuff, and I really got into Death Note. But on the whole, I prefer my pictures to move, and have voice actors bring them to life.
Other than the obvious anime addiction, what else do you enjoy?
Writing. Like I said, I write reviews of this stuff, and other media too. Even though I love anime, I've still written more reviews of non-anime material, Hollywood blockbusters and the like. You can read it all at DVD Reviewer and MyReviewer. That WWW button under my avatar will take you to my anime page, and you can find out how fond I am of the sound of my own typing.

What is it that you love about anime?
Stories. I love stories, and I love different stories most of all. When Hollywood started dishing up the same old tripe in its summer blockbuster, vetted by test audiences and scripted by committee, I needed something else, and anime certainly fits the bill of different. Don't get me wrong, there's more than enough cliche and nonsense in the average anime to make my teeth itch, but at least it's different cliche. And I still find the proportion of good to bad is still 10:90, as opposed to 1:99 of Hollywood. That top ten I selected is from a shortlist of around 50 titles, and they are interchangeable. Except for Wings Of Honneamise which is my favourite anime movie of all, and second favourite movie ever.

Y'know Justpa, you should really look into putting information on your profile and listing your top 10. You're a bit boring to look at right now (nice avatar, mind).
