CSC Media Group Launches the First UK Anime Channel

London, Sept 12, 2007 - CSC Media Group today announced the launch of Anime Central on the SKY Digital Platform, Channel 199. This marks the first time a UK television channel has devoted its airtime to entirely to Japanese animation.

Launching on Thursday 13th September, Anime Central will show the best animation Japan has to offer with a programming line-up that includes Bleach, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Fullmetal Alchemist.

Historically, Japanese animation has enjoyed a phenomenal success in cinemas, with the recent Howl’s Moving Castle from legendary director Hayao Miyazaki taking an estimated $231,711,096 worldwide.

CEO David Docherty says, ‘Anime is a global phenomenon and now UK viewers will have the catch up with the rest of the world.’
