ADV FILMS PRESENT MODERN ADULT FAIRY TALE A TREE OF PALME!

FEATURE-LENGTH FUTURIST PINOCCHIO RETELLING ON DVD 6th AUGUST 2007

LONDON, UK, 16th JULY 2007

ADV Films, the number one producer-distributor of anime outside of Japan, is pleased to announce the DVD release of A Tree of Palme in the UK on 6th August 2007!

A Tree of Palme is a modern retelling of the classic Pinocchio story with a sci-fi fantasy twist. The cinematic Japanese animated feature was written and directed by highly respected animator Takashi, who first came to the attention of American fans with his work as chief animator for the cyberpunk masterpiece Akira.  Fans of Studio Ghibli’s more darker, more mature work, such as Princess Mononoke, will find much to enjoy in this original film.

What the Press Said:

"A Tree of Palme delivers what A.I. could not. It successfully transplants "Pinocchio" into a world where its ideas can flourish; it taps into concerns we have about technology and our relationship with the natural world. It's definitely not family fare, but adults who enjoy dark science fiction and classic Disney movies will have a wonderful time exploring this unique film."  DVD Verdict

"A Tree of Palme is an enjoyable experience. It's moving and powerful some of the time, slow and simple at other times, but it's always interesting. The visuals are superb, the it has a good dub, and viewers who want a slow drama full of the fantastic for a quiet evening should keep it in mind."  AnimeonDVD.com

"A wide-ranging epic adventure. Palme is a gorgeous and unique project. Animation buffs are likely to be enthralled by both its surreal images and its surreal, dreamy story. Palme himself is a blunt, wide-eyed little Astro Boy figure, and his cuteness may lead people to expect a kids' movie. It isn't: it's dark, creepy and often violent."  Science Fiction Weekly

The Story:

Palme, a wooden puppet, has been created to care for the dying wife of his master. After her death, Palme loses his sense of purpose and ceases to function. He remains inactive until a mysterious woman, followed by a group of ruthless pursuers, arrives at the master's workshop. She is desperately seeking aid in delivering a precious package to its destination across the world. When his master is mortally wounded by the woman's pursuers, Palme agrees to aid the woman with her mission, thus taking the first step in his long and incredible journey to discover who he truly is.

A Tree of Palme (RRP £14.99) is a DVD-only release of a 136-minute anamorphic widescreen feature-length film, presented in both English and Japanese 5.1, with English subtitles. Extras include: Making of A Tree of Palme, character design sketches, mechanical and prop design sketches, story art, character art, mechanical art, world view art, storyboards & animatics, Japanese promos & trailers, and ADV previews.

WELCOME TO YOUR FAVORITE NIGHTMARE: ELFEN LIED COMPLETE COLLECTION ARRIVES IN STORES!

INNOCENCE GONE WRONG COLLECTED IN ONE COMPACT SET - OUT 6th AUGUST 2007

LONDON, UK, 16th JULY 2007

ADV Films, the number one producer- distributor of anime outside of Japan, is proud to present from 6th August 2007 the blood-soaked Elfen Lied Complete Collection.  The bloody sci-fi horror spectacle that shocked and amazed anime fans across the UK was one of the most notorious series of last year; much has been made within the fan community of the casual nudity and limb-slicing violence that are its hallmarks. This year, a whole new audience is currently following the show on Anime Network every Sunday on Sky 195.

Lucy, a beautiful young mutant, is bred by the government to be the ultimate weapon. Armed with unfathomable powers, she escapes her handlers, but loses her memory in the process. Fortunately, our young waif is taken in by two well-meaning students. Now, with government killers on her trail, the disposition of a five year old, and a hair trigger for ultra-violence, Lucy and her young friends must unravel the dark secret of her legacy before it's too late!

What the Press Said

“Brutally violent, sexually provocative” New York Times

“An exceedingly dark study of the horrors human beings are capable of inflicting on others.”  SFX Magazine

“Manages to excite, amuse and shock in equal measure.”  NEO Magazine

“Elfen Lied achieves a rare feat in anime, as it takes those extreme adult tendencies so often associated to the form and exploits them within a compelling action and drama series.”  DVD Times

“One of the best anime series we've seen in years... unmissable.”  X360 Magazine

“Elfen Lied is definitely not for everyone. This isn't a series that children should be anywhere near, and it's not for the prudish, squeamish, or anyone else that doesn't have a very high tolerance for nudity, extreme graphic violence, or general cruelty. For those who can handle it, though, it is a horror series of exceptional merit.”  Anime News Network

The Story:

A secret research facility has been doing “experiments” on mutants called diclonius. These mutants have extremely powerful, invisible arms that can literally rip people in half. As a result of these torturous experiments, they are extremely violent and will kill without warning. One of the more powerful ones, Lucy, has escaped the facility. If she gets out into the general population, it will be a killing spree like no one has ever seen before. The scarier thought is that if she reproduces, it could mean the end of humanity as we know it today. They need to do whatever they can the capture, or if need be, exterminate her. But there's a twist...during her escape, Lucy sustained a head injury causing an alter personality to surface. This turns her into a child-like, innocent, clumsy girl who can't say anything except “Nyu”. Between the two personalities and new-found friends, Lucy must discover the human side of her self and allow herself to be loved. With the military and a rogue assassin consistently on her tail, she must choose to kill or to be killed.

Elfen Lied (RRP £19.99) is an anamorphic DVD release presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 5.1 with English subtitles. Video extras include: character artwork, production artwork, exclusive postcard insert with original Japanese cover art, clean opening animation, clean closing animation, and previews of upcoming ADV Films releases.
