Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Kickstarter Beats Goal

The Kickstarter campaign for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (reported yesterday afternoon) has beaten its goal of $500,000 in under a day.

At the time of writing, 15,575 backers have pledged $1,200,472. This amount of money means that the campaign has almost reached the final stretch goal of local co-op which is priced at $1,250,000.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is the latest title to come from Koji Igarashi, the man behind the Castlevania franchise, the famous action-adventure series that chronicled the struggle of the Belmont family against Dracula and his army of movie inspired monsters. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is the spiritual successor to Castlevania and promises to be, “a gothic, exploration-focused action platformer, designed by one of the godfathers of the genre!” Players can expect a side-scrolling platformer featuring RPG and crafting elements. The game is being developed by Inti Creates which is made up of former developers from Capcom and Bandai Namco. Their most famous recent project is the critically acclaimed Mighty No. 9.

Koji Igarashi is directing the game and the music for his game is composed by Michiru Yamane, a fellow Castlevania veteran who made the memorable music for many of the titles in the franchise.

The game will be developed for XBOX One, Playstation 4, and PC. According to the Kickstarter page this will be the first time on Kickstarter that backers will have the option to receive actual PS4 / XB1 / PC retail discs. There are 31 days to go and it looks like the project will reach its final stretch goal so it’s worth keeping an eye on the campaign to see what else is added.
