Footage of Goro Miyazaki’s Ronia the Robber’s Daughter

The first footage from Goro Miyazaki’s TV anime Ronia the Robber’s Daughter (Sanzoku no Musume Ronia) has been released online.

Synopsis

Ronia is the only daughter of Mattis, the chief of a tribe of bandits who live in a large castle in a forest. Ronia studies the ways of the mysterious creatures who live in the forest.

The anime is adapted from Swedish author Astrid Lindgren’s children’s fantasy book of the same name. It is directed by Goro Miyazaki (Tales from Earthsea, From Up On Poppy Hill) and animated by Studio Ghibli and POLYGON PICTURES, the company who helped animate The Sky Crawlers and the recent hit TV show Knights of Sidonia. The anime will premiere on NHK and BS Premium in October during the autumn season. The video features the series theme song “Haru no Sakebi” (Spring’s Shout) by Aoi Terashima.
