Beyond The Boundary Movie Confirmed For Spring 2015

In recent years, the Japanese animation studio Kyoto Animation has made a name for itself with light-hearted series’ such as K-ON! and Tamako Market, which is why some people were surprised when they revealed plans to adapt Nagomu Torii’s supernatural action series Beyond the Boundary (Kyoukai no Kanata) into a 12 episode anime, which aired between October and December of last year.

The series proved to be very popular and now, with the release of its final blu-ray volume in Japan, the series’ official website has confirmed Kyoto Animation’s next theatrical project will be a Beyond the Boundary movie, which will be released in Japanese theatres in Spring 2015.

Beyond the Boundary follows Akihito Kanbara, an immortal off-spring of a human and a “youmu” – supernatural manifestations of human animosity and Mirai Kuriyama, a “Spirit World Warrior”, the last of her clan of specialists who protect humans from youmu and the disturbing events that follow after Akihito saves Mirai from an apparent suicide attempt.

The series was simulcast in the United Kingdom by Animax and has been licensed for a North American home video release by Sentai Filmworks. Kyoto Animation’s previous theatrical feature, Tamako Love Story, was released in Japan earlier this year.
