Anime Limited releasing Giovanni’s Island in December?

Although it’s highly likely, until Anime Limited releases an official statement on the issue, nothing is 100% set in stone. So keep that in mind whe nreading =3.

In February of this year, Production I.G. released Giovanni’s Island in cinemas. The movie, which is directed by The Rose of Versailles episode director Mizuho Nishikubo, follows the story of Junpei and Kanta, two brothers who live on Shikotan shortly after the end of the second world war. When their island finds itself caught in the middle of the continuining western conflicted and invaded by Russian soldiers, the boys have to embark on a journey to save their father after he is captured by Russian soldiers and taken to Serbia.

Last month, the film was awarded the Jury Prize at France’s annual Annecy International Animation Film Festival, so it’s no surprise that there has been some international interest in this title. Earlier this week, the dubbing studio Bang Zoom Entertainment announced on Facebook that they will be premiering the English dub of the movie at Anime Expo in America next week, which was followed by Andrew Partridge of Anime Limited revealing on our forum subtly-but-not-subtly teasing that Anime Limited plans to release the movie this December.

Previously, Anime Limited has teamed up with North American dubbing studios such as NYAV Post to produce English dubs for their upcoming Mai Mai Miracle release.
