Anime Limited License Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Ilya

Type-Moon’s Fate/ franchise certainly is spread across the various different anime licensors in the UK – MVM Entertainment distribute Fate/stay night and Fate/Zero, whereas MangaUK have Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works and now, Anime Limited have decided that they too want a slice of the Type-Moon pie.

During an interview with UK-Anime.net, Anime Limited’s El Presidente Andrew Partridge revealed that the company has acquired the rights to the first season of Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Ilya, which is based on a comedy manga that re-imagines Ilyasviel von Einzbern in an alternate universe to Fate/stay night where she is a magical girl who has to collect seven “Class Cards” that contain the spirits of legendary heroes.

A release format or period for the series have yet to be confirmed.

Also in the interview, Anime Limited discussed their ideas for the releases of some of their other licenses, such as Kill la KillSamurai Flamenco and Space Dandy (NOTE: None of these are confirmed and are subsequent to change and differ from the actual release):

Kill la Kill:

  • As previously revealed, Anime Limited’s hope is to be able to release the series over three sets as opposed to Aniplex of America’s 5. The reason for this is that Anime Limited believe the series to really be comprised of three different “acts”, as well as the series’ Goku Uniforms having up to three stars.
  • When asked about their release of the Attack On Titan soundtrack (which neither sold poorly or amazingly), Anime Limited said that persuing projects such as that isn’t something they are actively seeking out, but they happen on a case by case basis. In the case of Kill la Kill, the soundtrack rights for the UK aren’t available.

Samurai Flamenco:

  • The series will be released in two parts, which might possibly be blu-ray only.
  • Due to the belief that the series will not receive a dub, they might be subtitle-only.

Space Dandy:

  • The hope is to be able to release the series in a chipboard box that has enough space to contain both seasons, in digipak+ packaging similar to Cowboy Bebop with a hard or softback artbook containing at least 100 pages.
