Studio Ghibli Easter Screenings

UK anime fans are in for a treat this Easter because Film4 is screening a season of nineteen Studio Ghibli films from March 26th to April 13th. It starts a week today and includes nearly every Studio Ghibli film plus some made before the studio was formed. So we get titles from The Little Norse Prince all the way to the more recent Arrietty.

Film4’s website states:

Starting with a channel premiere screening of Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar-winning classic Spirited Away, Film4’s Studio Ghibli Season celebrates the legendary Japanese animation company’s entire back catalogue.

Tune in throughout the Easter holidays for daily screenings of films ranging from Ponyo to Princess Mononoke, from My Neighbour Totoro to Howl’s Moving Castle, which is also receiving its first airing on Film4.

The line-up looks like this:

Wednesday April 3rd: Ponyo (14:50)
Thursday April 4th: Ocean Waves (11:00), Pom Poko (14:35)  
Friday April 5th: Whisper of the Heart (14:40), Grave of the Fireflies (12:15 am)
Saturday April 6th: Spirited Away (16:35)
Sunday April 7th: The Cat Returns (15:00)
Monday April 8th: (14:25)
Tuesday April 9th: Only Yesterday (12:55)
Wednesday April 10th: Princess Mononoke (13:10)
Thursday April 11th: The Little Norse Prince (11:00), Laputa: Castle in the Sky (14:30)

Saturday April 13th: Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind (Time TBC)
