SunnyCon 2013 Press Release

SunnyCon may only have launched last year but it is making massive strides catering to the UK’s Japanophiles. Well we at AUKN have great news as a press release for SunnyCon 2013 has been released. Here’s the info:

SunnyCon gears up for 2013
New year has just arrived and SunnyCon is even closer with just a matter of months left.

So Far..

SunnyCon has announced big name anime dub voice actors Vic Mignogna, Colleen Clinkenbeard and Cristina Vee as well as other guests like member of YouTube’s team four star DBZ abridged MasakoX (Lawrence Simpson), cosplayer extraordinaire Ginny McQueen and New York bestseller Marisa Meyer. Alongside top guests there will also be a variety of panels and events taking place over the weekend including Japanese culture panels and talks from culture expert Akemi Solloway and entertainment from steampunk group VIS Emporium as well as martial arts sword demonstrations in Kendo and Iaido. There will also be fan ran panels with everything from talks on Japanese myth and it’s link to anime to learning dancing with j-pop and k-pop. One of the big draws with SunnyCon will be the prestige cosplay contest which is offering up a grand prize of £2000 for the best cosplay with prizes of £1000 and £500 for 2nd and 3rd place respectively one of the largest prize pots for a cosplay contest in the world. Also announced is the UK’s first ever Miku Hatsune concert to be held before the SunnyCon evening party. The concert will be run by the MikuUk group who will bring the world most famous digital diva to life in Sunderland.

Looking forward..

SunnyCon is to be held at the end of March on the weekend of 23rd – 24th at the beginning of the UK convention season and it is already on its’ way to becoming the biggest with 2000+ expected attendance over the weekend with VIP tickets already sold out in 2012 leaving only general entry and under 13’s tickets remaining organizers are urging people to buy early so not to miss out. More and more traders are being added to the dealers room which will feature the best official traders who specialize in anime, manga and general geeky goods alongside the best manga inspired artists from all over the UK and talented newcomers from the North East and authentic Japanese snacks and deserts. There are still a few more announcements left but SunnyCon is already shaping up to be the biggest anime/geeky event of 2013 in the region.

That’s not all….

It doesn’t end in March with SunnyCon there will be a unique cosplay cruise on the Tyne as SunnyCon will be chartering the Pride of the Tyne to throw the first ever cosplay party on a ferry. The party is unlike anything ever seen on the Tyne with colourful cosplays, live geek acts and it promises to be a party unlike any ever seen before but spaces are limited with only 200 tickets available.

Over 13’s general entry £25

VIP tickets £30.

Tickets for Under 13’s and over 13’s are general entry and permit entry to the weekend full of events but VIP gets you in 1 hour early, a free t-shirt, entry into a draw for a prize pack and half priced entry into the evening event.
