Production I.G’s latest anime television series, Psycho-Pass, has had a trailer released which gives viewers a taste of the cyberpunk crime thrills on offer.
In the future, the police have guns named Dominators that can detect a suspect’s “crime factor” by measuring their state of mind and personality. This technique is termed “Psycho-Pass” and if the suspect’s crime factor is above a certain limit, the gun will fire. One of the enforcement officers is Shinya Kougami and this is his story.
Kougami is voiced by Tomokazu Seki (Tsubasa in Captain Tsubaba, Brandon Heat in Gungrave and Van Fanel in Escaflowne). His female lead is the wonderful Kana Hanazawa (Shiro in Deadman Wonderland, Anri in Durarara!! And the magical Mayuri in Steins;Gate). They are supported by Kenji Nojima (Yuuji in Blue Gender), Akira Ishida (Athrun in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed) and Shizuka Itou (Misa from the Negima! franchise).
There are some heavy-weight names in the staff for this anime. The chief director is Katsuyuki Motohiro a man who has handled live-action adaptations of Night Head and Antique Bakery. The director is Naoyoshi Shiotani and he has directed the anime films Blood-C: The Last Dark and Tokyo Marble Chocolate. It is running on Fuji TV’s noitamana block for 22 episodes. The opening theme is “Abnormalize” by the phenomenally brilliant J-rock outfit Ling Tosite Sigure!!!
The anime will be broadcast on the 11th of October.
Much like winter, summer is normally a weak season with a bunch of uninteresting anime to offer. This year looks different however, since there are a lot of shows here that I'm..
