King of Thorn English Voice Cast Announced Mon, 30 Apr 2012

The 2010 anime movie adaptation of Yuji Iwahara’s King of Thorns has been kicking around the Anime Schedule for a while but now it looks like it’s a step closer to release with the dub staff and cast revealed by Funimation at its Anime Central panel on Saturday. The roles shake down like this:

Synopsis

Kasumi lives the life of a normal high school girl with her twin sister Shizuku. Then her world falls apart when the Medusa virus sweeps across the globe, turning people into stone-like corpses. In order to find a cure, scientists select 160 people to enter an experiment which will see them put into hibernation in cold sleep capsules in a Scottish castle. Kasumi goes to sleep hoping to be reunited with her twin sister and in a world cured of the Medusa virus but when she wakes up she finds that the facility that housed the sleep capsules is in decay and has been invaded by a jungle full of vine covered thorns. Worse things lurk in this jungle and she and a handful of survivors will have to dig deep to survive. Kasumi will have to be extra careful because some of these survivors have agendas of their own.


The manga was originally published in the seinen magazine  Monthly Comi Beam between October 2002 and October 2005 and collected in six bound volumes. The movie version was produced by Sunrise which was directed by Kazuyoshi Katayama (Appleseed, Big O).

There’s still no word on when Manga will release this but we are still one step closer to witnessing a truly interesting biological apocalypse.
