Kasumi lives the life of a normal high school girl with her twin sister Shizuku. Then her world falls apart when the Medusa virus sweeps across the globe, turning people into stone-like corpses. In order to find a cure, scientists select 160 people to enter an experiment which will see them put into hibernation in cold sleep capsules in a Scottish castle. Kasumi goes to sleep hoping to be reunited with her twin sister and in a world cured of the Medusa virus but when she wakes up she finds that the facility that housed the sleep capsules is in decay and has been invaded by a jungle full of vine covered thorns. Worse things lurk in this jungle and she and a handful of survivors will have to dig deep to survive. Kasumi will have to be extra careful because some of these survivors have agendas of their own.
The manga was originally published in the seinen magazine Monthly Comi Beam between October 2002 and October 2005 and collected in six bound volumes. The movie version was produced by Sunrise which was directed by Kazuyoshi Katayama (Appleseed, Big O).
