Although a modern dance interpretation of Astro Boy and Buddha might raise scepticism from manga fans early reviews have been positive with a critic for the Daily Telegraph writing a fascinating piece calling it a “…remarkable sensation…”. The show features images from Tezuka’s original illustrations projected above the dancers and has music from the respected Nitin Sawhney and a cast of 10 from both Japan and Europe, the show aims to reveal the imagination of Tezuka and the creative process by offering segments of stories by Tezuka.

All performances will be at 19:30. The performance on Thursday the 8th of will be followed by a talk from the choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and the performance on Friday the  9th will be preceded by a talk given by Helen McCarthy about manga starting at 18:15. Tickets cost between £10 and £32 and can be booked online. For more information visit the website or phone 0844 412 4319.
