Japanese broadcaster Animax has released a teaser trailer on the official website for Madhouse's anime spin on Blade.


Synopsis

Blade is a “Daywalker”, a person who was born with both human and vampire blood after a vampire named Deacon Frost attacked his mother on the eve of his birth. Now with strength of a vampire and the ability to walk in sunlight like a human, Blade is a vampire hunter who fights to protect humans from the threat of vampires. Blade is in Yokohama on a mission where he encounters a mysterious vampire organisation based in Asia who are known as “Existence” who are modified vampires created by Deacon Frost. To take down Frost and Existence, Blade joins forces with a young Japanese woman named Makoto, daughter of a vampire hunter.

While the trailer does not reveal much anime, the website gives details on the impressive names on the cast and production staff behind this instalment. The series will be directed by Mitsuyuki Masuhara (High School of the Dead, Death Note), scripted by Kenta Fukasaku (son of Kinji Fukasaku and director of Battle Royale 2 and X-Cross) with Akio Ohtsuka (Ghost in the Shell’s Batou, Porco Rosso’s Curtis) voicing Blade and singer-songwriter/voice actress Maaya Sakamoto (Arakawa Under the Bridge’s Nino and CANAAN’s Alphard) as Makoto,

This is the fourth and final instalment in the four-part Marvel Anime project, which has seen Madhouse adapt of Marvel titles like Iron Man, Wolverine and X-Men and will premiere in Japan on the 1st of July.
