Blood-C News Updates Thu, 19 May 2011

A teaser video and news of cast and crew and character design has emerged for Blood-C, the spin-off of the classic 2000 film Blood: The Last Vampire.

Whilst Blood-C is not the first spin-off of the movie, it is a new take on the vampire filled world of Blood and one which will see Production I.G. and artistic quartet CLAMP working together, with CLAMP handling story and character design.

News of the collaboration was announced earlier this year with the unveiling of a website containing teaser images and some information. The original announcement confirmed that CLAMP would handle the story and character designs whilst Production I.G. would handle the animation and Aniplex would be producing the series. Now the website has more information including a teaser video, cast, character art, production staff and information on the television series which will premiere on the 7th of July.

The cast includes Nana Mizuki (Hinata in Naruto) who will take the lead role of Saya Kisaragi whilst Keiji Fujiwara, who has voiced numerous videogame characters, will play Saya’s father, Tadayoshi Kisaragi.

Production staff include Tsutomu Mizushima (XXXHOLiC, Hare+Guu) who will take on directing duties and Jun’Ichi Fujisaku , director of the other Blood: The Last Vampire spin-off, Blood+, is creative supervisor. CLAMP’s Nanase Ohkawa is supervising scripts and co-writing with Fujisaku whilst Naoki Sato (Eureka Seven, X) is composing the music.

A full cast and crew list can be found here and images for the character designs by CLAMP can be found here.

The television series is scheduled to start on the 7th of July and will be preceded by a Manga series handled by Ranmaru Kotone (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) which will start on the 26th May whilst a theatrical film will be released next year.
