Information filtered through on various websites like Anime News Network after the latest issue of Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine broke the news. The details indicate that both the television drama and film are part of the same live-action effort that will hope to capture this very bizarre story.

Synopsis

Kou Ichinomiya is the son of a wealthy family and has been brought up to believe that he must never be in debt to anybody. After falling victim to a prank which leaves his trousers halfway up a bridge, he is caught in a bizarre conversation with a girl named Nino who insists that she is not of this earth. Unfortunately, whilst in the process of trying to get his trousers, Kou falls into the Arakawa River and is almost certain to drown until Nino saves him. He finds that he owes his life to her and is now in her debt. In order to repay his debt, he must love her and live with her under the bridge which is also home to all manner of strange people.

The manga was first serialised in Young Gangan in December 2004 whilst an anime adaptation was created by Shaft and two seasons were aired on TV Tokyo in 2010.

The cast for both film and drama will be announced on the 15th of April and the movie will be released in the spring of 2012 whilst the series will air this summer. An official website for the project launched last Friday and can be found here.
