ADV UK cancel Kurau, Red Garden releases, PiQ closes down Sat, 21 Jun 2008

According to reports posted on AnimeOnDVD and EyeOnAnime, ADV UK have cancelled all future separate volume releases of both Kurau Phantom Memory and Red Garden, opting to finish both series with complete collections instead. The Kurau Phantom Memory Boxset will be released on the 28th of July, while the Red Garden Complete Collection is set for the 25th of August. Both have been priced at £34.99.

No reasons for these cancellations have been provided, though we suspect it's a result of less than stellar sales combined with the kind of financial issues that have been dogging ADV since late 2007.

Issues that now include the demise of their short-lived geek culture magazine 'PiQ', which itself was supposed to be a replacement for their well-known anime-devoted magazine NewtypeUSA. PiQ's editorial staff blames its closure on "low advertising revenue, poor business management and a lack of proper marketing and promotion", all of which are a direct result of ADV's current financial difficulties.
