Manga Shakespeare nominated for a criticized Harvey award Sat, 21 Jun 2008

Fans of the UK manga movement will be pleased to hear that Sonia Leong's global manga adaptation of Romeo and Juliet ("Manga Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet") has been nominated for a 2008 Harvey Award in the Best American Edition of Foreign Material category. The nominations and winners are selected by US comic book professionals and amongst others, the novel will be up against Japanese manga Witchblade Takeru.

It's worth noting that these nominations haven't exactly been greeted with much (if any) enthusiasm by the manga community itself, with many noted critics slamming the selections as "disappointing" and "incredibly mediocre".
