Book on Big-eye art to be released in March Sat, 8 Mar 2008

Big-eye art is a new book (due out soon, release date below) looking at the world's continued fascination with 'Big-eye art', which apparently emerged in the late 1950s in the form of 'big-eye dolls', and continues to attract dedicated fans (especially due to the now-popularity of the typically 'big-eyed' Japanese comic\anime aesthetic). Quote from the press release below:

"This extraordinary book offers a fascinating insight into the fantastical, sometimes bizarre, metaphysical world of big-eye art. It tells the evolving story of this incredible art form, and showcases the work of 22 specialist artists ranging from some of the world’s most established fantasy artists such as Jasmine Becket-Griffith and Misha, to the rising stars of the genre. More than 150 illustrations bring this magical world vividly to life, from great-eyed dragons and cute puppies to pity kitties and all-seeing dolls. The illustrations evince a move towards a more gothic – even slightly macabre – style that will captivate collectors and enthusiasts throughout the world."

BIG-EYE ART - Resurrected and Transformed is due out on the 31st of March 2008 (ISBN: 978-1-8589-4436-4, Price £19.95, 180 colour illustrations, 224 pages).
