New Masaaki Yuasa anime series “Kaiba” due in April 2008

News from Japan suggests that Masaaki Yuasa’s next anime project will be another TV series animated by Madhouse Studios (following on from 2006’s crazy-horror-adventure Kemonozume). “Kaiba” will be a science-fiction love story (the subtitle is “I shall love you even if I have lost my memory.”) and should air during the spring 2008 season (starting in April).

Yuasa’s rough, hyper kinetic and sketchy style of animation, as seen in the likes of Cat Soup and Mind Game, will often alienate fans of traditional anime but attracts those interested in his unconventional story telling.
