Appleseed Ex Machina & Vexille: the future of anime? Thu, 2 Aug 2007

A brand new (3+ minutes) trailer for Appleseed Ex Machina has been published online and can be streamed over at YouTube. This CG-animated movie is a follow-up to the popular 2004 Appleseed film and interestingly, is being produced by famous Hollywood & Hong Kong film maker John Woo.

Many of the same people working on the Appleseed franchise are also contributing to the recently licensed Vexille, the trailer of which you can also stream at YouTube. Both movies are notable for utilizing 3D CG animation techniques to animate characters and perhaps offer an early glimpse into what the future may hold for Japanese animation.
