in matter of fact wasn't it 27 episodes in total?

I don't really think that matters.

If Blu-ray sales have constantly good from Sentai (for example High School Of The Dead and the future release of Angel Beats) then maybe.

Both 12/13 episode series, much easier for Manga to gamble on than 26 episode ones.

If Manga didn't expect K-ON! to kick off in the UK, why did they license it in the first place? xD

I don't know, I just remember them tweeting that K-ON would never be mainstream over here, and only die-hard fans would buy it.

I thought the main issue with the K-ON! boxset was it being a rerelease and that the price of authoring the blu-rays for a rerelease would have been too much. After all, why else was The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya's BD cancelled too?

The price they were given for authoring the BDs was much higher than anticipated - I don't remember Jerome saying anything about rereleases being a factor. If the price for 13 episodes of K-ON! was too much, I can hardly see 26 episodes of Season 2 being affordable.

Somehow I doubt that they even want to licence K-ON!! for the UK. DVD or Blu-ray. It all depends on how well that boxset does for them next month. Given that so many 'vocal' people were looking forward to the Blu-rays, it may not do so well for them at all.

I remember when MangaUK were trying to recommend the K-ON volumes to people at the MCM Expo last year, but it was mostly ignored and it's one of those titles that is hard to pitch for here. Sure most anime fans love this series and want it to be really successful but it hasn't happened. (yet)

Just so you know, i'm not against a Blu-ray release, in matter of fact, I wish all of our anime releases were all Blu-ray but I do get MangaUK's message.

K-ON strikes me a show that potentially appeals to a less hardcore young female audience, but the challenge is reaching them.

I expect the collection to sell better than the singles, a release format that's dead in the water, perhaps well enough to encourage Manga to license S2. But I'd be surprised to see any K-ON on Blu-ray any time soon.

I'm not too sure about that seeing as my younger sister and her friends gave it a fair shot and were all thoroughly unimpressed cause they were told by my friend (an idiot) that it was on the same level as BECK.

Now THAT I can get behind and would fully endorse.

I'm of the opinion that Guyver is fun in all it's forms. If the old series were to resurface on DVD, I'd be all over it like a bad rash.

Actually, The Guyver old series (1989 - 1992 series) has been released on Region 1 DVD by Manga Entertainment along with Devil Man (Both episodes - The Birth and The Demon Bird on one DVD.), Angel Cop (Episodes 1-6 on one DVD - Fully Uncut.) and Bounty Dog (In a 2 part version on one DVD with extra footage not seen in the UK VHS version.). These titles have been available on Region 1 DVD by Manga Entertainment for the past 10 years. But for some strange and unexplainable reason, Manga UK have not bothered to give these a Region 2 UK DVD release yet. I'm hoping they will soon though.

With The Guyver old series, Manga Entertainment had released all the episodes on 2 x Region 1 DVDs: Episodes 1-6 on 1 DVD and Episodes 7-12 on the other DVD. Apparantly, one of the extras in the special features on the second DVD is a fully uncut version of Episode 12 along with the cut version as the normal version which was the VHS version back then. Not quite sure what was cut out of it originally though from what I remember.

Personally, I love K-ON (so does my 7 year old brother) and I have all of the season 1 singles collected - and yes, I am considering importing the Region A singles from America when I have the money to spare. However, as not even Bandai USA released a blu-ray boxset, it makes me wonder if they sold very well too.

I can see why it would be a hard show to sell here, especially considering the limited appeal anime has as a medium outside of Japan. It is definitely the kind of show that would have benefited from more exposure in the run up to its release.

Not entirely true, all have been made available on DVD by Manga US at some point in the last twelve years; Angel Cop in 2000, Devilman in 2001 and Guyver in 2004. All are now long OOP. I have serious doubts as to whether Manga retain the licences for these shows.

Apparently they're just closing the deal on a big one.

That's because Manga have already announced it in the past.

Hope they will announce some good stuff though Im sure they will announce crap stuff like "not so good" titles. NSTC has so much good stuff still here we only receive a quarter of what they have overthere.

I would like to see some action anime to compensate the girl stuff that is overwhelming anime nowadays.
